The governor of Oyo state, Governor Seyi Makinde has declared that Oyo state will start working with the farmers to ramp up the local production.
Oyo state has been one of the designated beneficiaries of the Africa Development Bank Agro-Processing zone project.
However, the Governor has decided to work with the farmers in the farm settlement to upgrade local production.
Subsequently, private sectors are now producing 500 tonnes of tomatoes per week in one of the farm settlements.
Governor Seyi Makinde disclosed this news via his official twitter handle.
He tweeted that,
“Today, we visited the Akufo Farm Settlement, one of the two farm settlements to be upgraded into farm estates. Right now, there are private investors there producing 500 tonnes of tomatoes per week. Even at that, there’s a large gap between this production & what we need locally.”
“As one of the designated beneficiaries of the Africa Development Bank agro-processing zone project, Oyo State will be working with these farmers and others to ramp up local production and then look into processing. I’m super excited about the possibilities to boost our economy.”
Therefore Makinde has declared that Oyo state will be working with the private sectors in the production to boost the state economy.
