Nigeria records 2nd coronavirus death, confirmed cases hit 40

On Monday night, March 23, 2020, Nigeria recorded a second death from the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) made this announcement.

The country’s first death in the person of Engr. Suleiman Achimugu who is a former Managing Director of the Pipeline and Product Marketing Company (PPMC).

However, the NCDC did not disclose the identity of the second death case even when it was announced that four new cases to take the number of confirmed cases in Nigeria to 40 has been confirmed.

The three of the additional cases are in Lagos State and the remaining one in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The NCDC update reported that two of these cases are returning travelers.

As at 11:00 pm on the 23rd of March, there are 40 confirmed cases of COVID19 in Nigeria.
