Mimimum wage: Governors that cannot pay should be impeached

General-Secretary of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Mr Emmanuel Ugboaja,(NLC), has appealed to state Houses of Assembly to identify with workers by compelling governors to pay the new minimum wage.

Ugboaja said any governor who refuses to pay the minimum wage should be impeached because they have the capacity to pay and it is criminal to say they cannot pay the new minimum wage. He added that some of these leaders ride in private jets so they can pay.

President Muhammadu Buhari signed the N30,000 minimum wage law on April 18, 2019. After that, labour and the government debated heavily on the consequential adjustment on workers salaries.
