London’s Transport Authority on Monday, 25th November 2019, refused to renew an operating license for ride company Uber.
“Transport for London has concluded that it will not grant Uber London Limited (Uber) a new private hire operator’s licence in response to its latest application,” it said in a statement.
The renowned transport giant, which has 3.5 million customers and over 50,000 drivers described the move as unfair and said that it would appeal.
In September 2019, Uber was given a two month extension following the expiration of its 15 months agreement, the agreement was conditionally made on passengers safety improvement.
Uber has 21 days to appeal during which time it can continue to operate.
