A 25-year-old Nigerian lady, identified as Aishat Ganiyu, in an interview revealed her experience in Mali, noting that she would rather make N5 in Nigeria than to travel abroad.
Aishat in an interview with LegitTV narrated her experience travelling to Mali, how she was almost forced into prostitution saying she was told about seeking greener pastures abroad which she thought it would be better than her Lagos job.
In her video interview, she said she made the trip because she thought the value of money there will be bigger and it was when she got to Mali that the people who facilitated her trip revealed that she will be working as a prostitute.
With the horrible experience, she said she is never going abroad again even if better opportunities present themselves, adding that she would rather open a shop and make N5 as gain in her country than go elsewhere
Narrating her story, she said:
“They didn’t want me to leave. The lady refused, saying that the job she left behind in Lagos was better than the option. They could not return to Nigeria even if they wanted to.”
“All the Nigerian ladies I met there were into prostitution. I had to run to safety where I met people who helped me get back to Nigeria.”
The lady, however, revealed that her father has given her a shop space to kickstart her new life, stating that all she needs now is money to fill it up with wares.
