COVID-19: Oyo state cases hit 1,000


Amid the global pandemic attack, Oyo state cases have hit over 1,000.

As of 23rd June, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, (NCDC) confirmed 67 new cases in Oyo state.

However, the governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde has taken to social media to disclose where the new cases are found.

According to Makinde, he stated that 67 suspected cases in Oyo state came back positive.

These new cases are therefore found in fifteen Local governments.

“The COVID-19 confirmation tests for sixty-seven suspected cases came back POSITIVE.”

The cases are from:

Ibadan South West (19)
Oluyole (17)
Ibadan North (7)
Ibadan South East (3)
Egbeda (2)
Ido (2)
Itesiwaju (2)
Ibadan North West (2)
Ibarapa North (2)
Oyo West (2)
Oyo East (2)
Ogbomosho South (1)
Ogbomosho North (1)
Akinyele (1) Local Government Areas.

So, the total number of confirmed cases in Oyo State today is 1055.

Also, Makinde has adjusted the resumption dates for the reopening of schools.

Governor Seyi Makinde postponed the resumption of Primary 6, JSS 3, and SS3 students to 6th July while teachers are to resume on June 29, 2020.

“To enable schools test run COVID-19 prevention protocols put in place, we have postponed the resumption of Primary 6, JSS 3 and SS3 students to July 06, 2020. However, teachers are to resume on June 29, 2020.”
